The Enigma

One of the great enigmas about Donald Trump is why evangelical Christians support him so loyally. After all, he's the antithesis of most Christian virtues — he's greedy, dishonest, covetous, vain, arrogant, nasty, corrupt, adulterous, profane, irreligious, and so much more.

The NPR radio program Fresh Air featured an interview last week with author Sarah Posner who has just published a book titled Unholy — Why White Evangelicals Worship at the Altar of Donald Trump. I think the piece does an excellent job solving the enigma of the Trump/evangelical alliance and recommend accordingly.

I have not yet read Posner's book but certainly intend to do so now, after having heard the interview. I learned a lot I didn't know, like how evangelicals have always been closely tied to white supremacists to the point of where there's some overlap.
