Poison

Voters in Louisiana headed to the polls on Saturday. The top-of-the-ticket was the governor's race in the deeply red state where Republicans now almost always win.

Donald Trump heavily campaigned for the Republican candidate for governor, visiting the state multiple times for rallies and appearances. He recorded phone messages and radio and TV voiceover tracks to be used in the GOP candidate's ads. Trump's face and endorsing words appeared in print ads and campaign mailers.

And the Republican candidate for governor lost. In a deep red state. Where every other statewide race went to the Republican candidate (details here).

November has seen governor's races in three states, all of them deep red, heavily favored electorates — Mississippi, Kentucky, and Louisiana. Only one Republican from those three states won.

Hopefully Republicans in Congress were paying attention to these two races. Siding with Trump without question as the impeachment matter makes its way through Congress might no longer be the wisest course of action.

Trump is poison and you have no effective antidote except to abandon him.
