Nearly Seven Hundred

As of last night, nearly seven hundred former federal prosecutors had signed a statement saying they believe Donald Trump would have been indicted for obstruction of justice were he not currently serving as president (details here).

This conclusion was based on the evidence detailed in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report.

The statement has no binding force under law. However, it does provide a powerful rebuttal to Trump's incessant yammering that he was totally exonerated by Mueller. As well, it exposes as a lie Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's claim that Mueller's report means the matter is "case closed" (details here).

When the House of Representatives investigates the Mueller Report in open hearings, they should call as witnesses some of the prosecutors who signed this statement to explain why Trump should be charged with obstruction of justice.
