Rex

Rex Tillerson, who was Donald Trump's first Secretary of State, made some pretty damning comments about the President in an interview with CBS (details here). At the same time, it was painfully clear he was trying to be diplomatic -- imagine what he says off camera.

Coming from the corporate world, Tillerson said he found it "challenging for me...to go to work for a man who is pretty undisciplined, doesn’t like to read, doesn’t read briefing reports, doesn’t like to get into the details of a lot of things, but rather just kind of says, 'This is what I believe.'"

In other words, Trump leaps to conclusions without bothering with pesky things like facts.

This was the most damning portion: "So often, the president would say, 'Here’s what I want to do, and here’s how I want to do it,' and I would have to say to him, 'Mr. President, I understand what you want to do, but you can’t do it that way. It violates the law.'"

This brought to mind something I read a while back about Trump. Most Presidents respect the law and realize they must live within its constraints. But Presidents like Nixon and Trump viewed the law as something you should try to wiggle around and avoid.

In other words: don't worry if you're not following the law. Just don't get caught.

Trouble is, Trump is not smart enough to cover up when he's breaking the law.
