The Parallel Universe

The current issue of The New Yorker magazine includes a fascinating and disturbing feature article (link here) that goes inside the far right movement opposing social distancing and mask laws and regulations that have significantly curbed the Covid-19 pandemic.

It's baffling how people with such backwards and nonsensical thinking can thrive in their alternative universe. They're obsessed by and prisoners to conspiracy theories, and the wackier they are, the more likely they are to be believed.

Not surprising, most if not all of the people featured in the article are die-hard Donald Trump supporters. The fact that he's adored by some of America's most troubled minds is telling.

I couldn't help but laugh at the one woman who insisted Trump was the only one who could tackle the coronavirus and succeed. Only a near unlimited supply of pretzel logic could twist you into making such a conclusion.
