Military personnel frequently overnight in regularly established locations in Europe on the way from places like Afghanistan. However, the number of stops in Scotland has increased exponentially since Trump became President, and questions are now being raised whether some flights are being diverted there at a much greater cost.
Each time any service member stays at the resort, the government pays the tab, and Trump pockets the profit. Yet he has the audacity to claim this has "nothing to do with me." If he's making money from this, the practice has everything to do with him.
Fortunately, investigators in the House of Representatives are already looking into this. It very well could be an unconstitutional violation of domestic emoluments clause, which prohibits a President from receiving income from the federal government other than for his or her salary.
Stay tuned for future developments.
