We are currently enduring the grim Covid-19 winter that experts have been warning about for months with skyrocketing infection rates, record high deaths, and ICUs filled to capacity. To chronicle how it didn't have to be this way, on Saturday, the
Washington Post published a detailed article (link
here or
here) with the title "The inside story of how Trump’s denial, mismanagement and magical thinking led to the pandemic’s dark winter."
The piece proves, without a shadow of a doubt and with example after example, why things are worse here than elsewhere in the world — it's because of Donald Trump. More than four dozen White House officials and Trump insiders were interviewed for the piece both off an on the record.
To add insult to injury, as the article notes, Trump has abdicated caring about or focusing on the pandemic since he lost the election. It's just completely off his radar.
Trump is spending all his time poking into bizarre rabbit holes in hopes of finding some way to stay in office. At the same time, he's all but given up on the job he so desperately wants to keep.
Trump's abysmal handling of the Covid-19 crisis is the best example of why he could never be fit to serve as a ward captain let alone President of the United States. His term ends four weeks from Wednesday, and that can't come soon enough.
