Dereliction of Duty

Joe Scarborough is not my favorite person, but he nonetheless wrote an excellent opinion piece over the weekend (link here) in the Washington Post about how Donald Trump is AWOL when it comes to the current threat from the Russians on our election security and how most Congressional Republicans join him in this dereliction of duty.

Trump's own current Director of National Intelligence, Homeland Security Secretary, and FBI Director -- three men nominated by the President himself -- have warned of the grave threat and supplied him with conclusive evidence. Trump, instead, calls it a hoax.

And key Congressional Republicans are doing everything they can to shut down the special investigation into the 2016 election security. It's not that they believe it's a hoax; it's because they're afraid of what will be found.

Imagine if Franklin D. Roosevelt reacted to Pearl Harbor by calling it a hoax or George W. Bush did the same after the 9/11 attacks, and Congressional Republicans cheered them on, Scarborough notes. History would savage them.

The same is happening now. And Trump and his Republican apologists are hoping they can hide the evidence and we won't notice.

But I don't think we want to allow them. That's why your and my vote against the GOP cabal this November is critically important.
