Truth Isn't Truth?

Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani was on NBC's Meet the Press yesterday and, true to form, looked like a babbling idiot. Like his client, he moronically babbles whatever nonsense pops into his head.

He was once again peddling the nonsense the Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who leads the criminal investigation into the President and his associates, is trying to "trap" Trump into committing perjury.

This, of course, is utter horseshit. It's a fabricated excuse for Trump to avoid testifying under oath as Mueller asks him questions.

To try to make his argument, Giuliani peddled the sheer nonsense that "truth isn't truth" (details here). This is a regular refrain out of the mendaious Trump White House, that there are "alternative facts" that completely contradict the actual truth, like some kind of magic potion.

Ice freezes at 32 degrees. That is a truth. No amount of hairsplitting and weasel wording will change the freezing point to 35 degrees or 29 degrees.

With his "truth isn't truth" garbage, Giuliani is seemingly admitting that Trump cannot be relied on to tell the truth because his lying has become so habitual and chronic that telling the truth has become impossible for him.

Mueller holds a gigantic ace card in this whole sorry game Giuliani and Trump are trying to play. He can simply subpoeana the President. The Supreme Court has already affirmed that in previous rulings about presidential testimony.

The fact that he hasn't done so suggests Mueller is playing a long game. He's letting Trump walk into his own firing squad. He's the opposite of the President in that he's famously discreet, so only time will tell. Stay tuned.
