License to Discriminate

Donald Trump's administration has enacted a new rule that allows religious organizations and certain private corporations that are government contractors to discriminate against anyone who is LGBT, a single parent, or a non-Christian (details here). This is scheduled to take effect in a few weeks.

To add insult to injury, they're promoting this license to discriminate as a way to "ensure the civil rights of religious employers."

As a result, any religiously affiliated hospital or university could fire LGBT or single parent or atheist employees and refuse to hire the same. Hopefully, this disgraceful new policy will be challenged in court as soon as it goes into effect.

And, of course, it once again exposes the lie that the Trump administration would be the most pro-LGBT in history, something the White House still claims repeatedly. The opposite has proven to be true.
