On Saturday, the
New York Times broke the story (link
here) that Erik Prince, a Donald Trump confidant and founder of the disgraced and brutal paramilitary and security company Blackwater, teamed with convicted criminal and propagandist James O’Keefe, also close to Trump, to form a private espionage endeavor to infiltrate "Democratic congressional campaigns, labor organizations, and other groups considered hostile to the Trump agenda." Assisting Prince and O'Keefe's efforts are former government spies and some convicted criminals.
This kind of garbage is something you see in Vladimir Putin's circle of associates and now Trump supporters have imported it to the United States. O'Keefe has a long history of fabricating smear campaigns about people and organizations who crossed Trump and other conservative Republicans.
It's telling that Trump World always takes the lowest of the low road in the political arena. They can't respond on substantive points, so they expend all their efforts in smearing anyone who isn't a starry-eyed follower.
