The Pen Pal

It's no exaggeration to say the United States is now facing a national crisis. Much could be said for most countries around the world.

It's also no exaggeration to say the problem is overwhelming Donald Trump. Yes, he's made a few good decisions but more bad ones, and some very bad ones.

He's still peddling misinformation and falsehoods at his press conferences, if they can be called that. He's still peddling ridiculously optimistic and unrealistic outcomes (details here).

But the crisis is getting the better of him. The best-case scenarios for this year and next and very bleak.

So with all these demands on his attention, one has to wonder what he was thinking when he wrote to North Korea's dictator in the last few days, offering to help the remote dictatorship to fight coronavirus (details here).

Excuse my bluntness, but wake the fuck up Donald. You can't even meet your own country's basic needs. You should not be devoting a nanosecond to thinking about a dictatorship half way around the world.

This lack of prioritization strongly suggests Trump still thinks the coronavirus crisis will end quickly and miraculously. He's looking ahead to things being normal soon.

He's fallen in love with his own bullshit.
