Thus health experts were horrified when Donald Trump said on Thursday night: "I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators. You know, you’re going to major hospitals sometimes, they’ll have two ventilators. And now, all of a sudden, they’re saying, can we order 30,000 ventilators?"
It's not surprising that the chaotic Trump was all over the map yesterday in further claims about ventilators, saying the government had the problem under control, which it clearly does not, and complaining about GM not producing them when they already were (details here).
And rather than focus on assisting people and how people may learn more, Trump has once again reverted to form, attacking anyone who questions him publicly and endlessly praising himself when he's increasingly losing control of the situation.
It's so maddeningly frustrating watching what is happening now in Washington. This crisis was largely caused by Trump's two-month delay in addressing the escalating infection rate. And now it's being made worse by his utterly inept attempts to manage the crisis.
Thankfully, many states have smart, efficient governors without petty egos who are focusing on the problem and not trying to use the catastrophe to fuel their reelection efforts, as is happening in the White House.
Trump caused this nightmare and, every day, he makes the nightmare worse.
