Consequences

On Thursday, Vanity Fair magazine published an interesting interview (link here) with the title "'I’ll Never Question 1938 in Germany Again': An Ex-Republican Strategist Surveys the Wreckage of Trump’s GOP." The piece is the transcript of an interview from the magazine's podcast Inside the Hive.

I've said a number of times here before that when a Republican harshly criticizes Donald Trump, that's someone likely worth paying close attention to.

Talking about Republican officials who still support Trump, the interviewed GOP consultant Stuart Stevens says: "They all know that Trump is an idiot. They all know that he’s uniquely unqualified to be President. But they convinced themselves that he was a necessity.... It’s incredibly naive and incredibly weak. There’s something about it that is fundamentally un-American."

Trump is the epitome of the emperor with no clothes. Yet a majority of Republicans steadfastly insist to themselves that the emperor's new suit is magnificent. If he loses, the GOP is going to have a very ugly hangover.
