The Drug Deal

On Friday, the New York Times broke the story (link here) that a major deal between Donald Trump's administration and pharmaceutical companies to lower drug prices fell apart when the President insisted the company send each senior in America a $100 gift card right before the election.

The plan called for Trump to announce the deal standing before a giant mockup of the $100 gift, which would be called "Trump Cards."

The purpose of this was obvious. It would look like a $100 gift directly from Trump to every senior right before the election.

Paying someone to vote for you is a federal crime, punishable by up to two years in prison. But what about if you do it through a third-party intermediary? Yes, it still applies.
