Severe

The White House, as is typical for this administration, has enveloped the hospitalized Donald Trump in a deceptive and dishonest publicity fog. His doctors give rosy media briefings, and Trump even took a brief drive from his hospital room yesterday to wave at supporters, thereby exposing Secret Service agents with him in his hermetically sealed vehicle to an extremely high risk of infection (details here)

What doctors are saying about his medical treatment and medicines off camera, however, inadvertently reveals what very well may be the real truth: Trump is very sick with a severe case of Covid-19 and is nowhere near out of the proverbial woods. Seriously ill patents can suddenly worsen and even die.

As noted in the linked piece above from the New York Times: "Trump’s doctors said his oxygen levels had dropped to a level that can indicate that a patient's lungs are compromised. The symptom is seen in many patients with severe Covid-19. The President’s medical team also said that he had been prescribed dexamethasone on Saturday. The drug is a steroid used to head off an immune system overreaction that kills many Covid-19 patients. The drug is reserved for those with severe illness, because it has not been shown to benefit those with milder forms of the disease and may even be risky."

So which is it: (1) Trump is much sicker than his doctors are telling the laypeople hearing their reports or (2) Trump is being given risky treatments in a presumed attempt to rush his recovery so he can return to the campaign trail? Either answer is bad news.
