The Swamp Is Overflowing

Donald Trump famously promised to "drain the swamp" when he was running for President, but now that he's in office, his West Wing is turning out to be the swampiest in history.

He came into office and made a big deal about signing an executive order tightening restrictions on lobbyists’ work in the West Wing, and then secretly granted waivers for anyone who wanted one. As reported by Vox, Trump has granted more lobbyist waivers in the first four months of his presidency than President Obama did in all eight years of his (link here).

As reported by The Washington Post on Friday (link here), the vast majority of the waivers given to the top level of staff were unsigned and undated, which likely renders them legally worthless. To add insult to injury, the waivers claim to work retroactively, which is flatly against the law.

With waivers granted for literally everyone, that makes the current Trump administration the swampiest in modern history. Not only has the swamp not been drained, the water level has increased plus loads more alligators were brought in for good measure.

Yes, this is musician hunk Henry Rollins wrestling a live alligator.
