The Danger

Famed Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein broke a horrifying story yesterday (link here) about how Donald Trump is so unprepared and badly behaved for important phone calls with world leaders that he actually endangers national security.

"In hundreds of highly classified phone calls with foreign heads of state," Bernstein writes, "Trump was so consistently unprepared for discussion of serious issues, so often outplayed in his conversations with powerful leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Erdogan, and so abusive to leaders of America's principal allies, that the calls helped convince some senior US officials -- including his former secretaries of state and defense, two national security advisers and his longest-serving chief of staff -- that the President himself posed a danger to the national security of the United States, according to White House and intelligence officials intimately familiar with the contents of the conversations."

He continues further in the article: "The sources said there was little evidence that the President became more skillful or competent in his telephone conversations with most heads of state over time. Rather, he continued to believe that he could either charm, jawbone or bully almost any foreign leader into capitulating to his will, and often pursued goals more attuned to his own agenda than what many of his senior advisers considered the national interest."

Bernstein then goes on to detail about how Trump spoke almost lovingly on the phone with dictators like Putin and Erdogan — the latter often several times a week. In contrast, with America's allies like German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former UK Prime Minister Theresa May, Trump was outright abusive on regular occasions, even calling the Chancellor "stupid" while speaking with her.

The article includes many more disturbing revelations. I encourage you to read the whole piece. How will Republicans on Capitol Hill react to this article? Will they even admit to reading it?

The Liar

Last week, the Lawfare Podcast featured an outstanding episode exploring why Donald Trump lies so prolifically and the damage caused to the United States as a result of his 19,000-plus lies. It's the best piece on the topic I've read or heard, and believe me, I've ingested a great deal on the man.

The episode is hosted by Ben Wittes, who has authored a number of books on the presidency and several on the Trump administration. He interviewed Glenn Kessler, author of a new book about Trump's lying and also head honcho at the Washington Post's "Fact Checker" column.

You can download the episode for free directly at the Lawfare Podcast website (link here) or at popular podcast platforms like Apple iTunes (link here) and Stitcher (link here).

Slammed

Of late, few places are more slavishly pro-Donald Trump than the editorial pages of the Wall Street Journal. But it wasn't always that way.

Early in the 2016 campaign, before most of the field dropped out, the WSJ was bullish on several mainstream GOP candidates and stridently anti-Trump. With time, when it became more clear that Trump had become a serious contender who could end up being the nominee, the Journal softened its stance. It still criticized him but also highlighted some things they liked, notably when he parroted traditional pro-GOP talking points.

Once Trump would clearly be the nominee, the newspaper underwent a transition about a month in length. The criticisms became fewer and fewer. And the effusive praise grew more and more. Since he became President, that trend has continued. The paper even brought in several new columnists who do nothing but write adoring pieces about their Dear Leader.

Thus, it was rather startling this week to see the normally pro-Trump op-ed pages feature a house editorial written by the opinion editors that harshly slams the President (link here). Yes, they still have a few mash notes contained in the piece, but it's largely very negative.

Are they seeing the writing on the wall? Is this a sign of a Republican movement beginning to peel away from Trump? It's too early to tell, but if he loses big, then the self-divorce will be messy and ugly and bloody.

We can all make sure this happens by working hard to ensure that Trump is soundly defeated on November third. Help make Trump the US's thirteenth single-term President.

His Two Stepsons

Presumably older top Pierce Paris is playing the stepdad here and his two stepsons are by two different marriages. The beefy younger lad who tops is Jay Tee. Pierce is 6'2, 195 pounds, and 34 years old. Jay reports himself as 5'11 and 180 pounds but does not specify his age.

The Puppet

Yesterday afternoon, the New York Times broke the extraordinary news (link here) that Russia has been paying bounties to Afghan militants who kill American soldiers. That reporting was confirmed later in the day by the Wall Street Journal.

Donald Trump and his administration have known about this for more than three months.

And they've done nothing.

Wait. That's not quite true.

Trump invited Putin and Russia back into the G-7 after he learned they were funding the murder of American troops.

This has been a hell of a week for Trump. First came the news that Chinese spies have donated hundreds of thousand to his campaign and landed exclusive White House access as a result.

Then came the news that coronavirus infections in the US have spiked to an all-time high while Trump continues to pretend that the matter is all but solved.

And now we learn that he did nothing to punish Russia for killing American soldiers, except to send them an invitation to join the economic elite of G-7.

Hillary Clinton accused Trump of being Putin's puppet back in 2016. And now we know she was right.

Throw this on the growing heap of reasons why Trump must not be reelected in November.

Surrendering

After a year together as boyfriends, bottom Pierce wants to reverse roles and top Markus. The latter, however, wants nothing to do with that plan. Nevertheless, after missing his boyfriend all day, Markus greets his lover in total surrender, his ass high in the air, ready to be fucked. Pierce races to strip off his pants, his oversize cock already hard, and plunges right in. A good time is had by all.

Spiking and Sinking

While coronavirus infection rates have dropped in parts of the United States, like in the Northeast, they're spiking to historic new heights elsewhere in the country, particularly in the sunbelt. Indeed, the U.S. had 36,880 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, the highest single-day total ever. And, there are no quick fixes to get the rate down quickly (details here).

Donald Trump, idiotically, continues to repeat the absurd claim that the numbers remain elevated because of testing (details here). In his crippled brain, if you don't test, then you don't have the virus. That's like saying you can't have a fever if you don't take your temperature.

Indeed, Trump is back to peddling the lie that the virus will go away all by itself soon (details here). He seems to realize his dishonesty is the reason why his support has cratered in polls, yet he seems incapable of changing course (details here).

It's like every day he's determined to show how incapable he is of being President or of changing for the better. His ship is sinking yet he seems to think he can still sell pleasure cruises on it.

November 3 can't get here fast enough.

The Worst Ever

I've said more than a few times here that when a Republican slams Donald Trump, that's a voice we should be listening to. Over the weekend, Republican strategist Steve Schmidt tore into Trump like no other.

Indeed, in writing about the incident, Chris Cillizza titled his piece (link here) "This is the most succinct -- and brutal -- Republican rejection of Donald Trump that you will ever read."

Schmidt said: "Donald Trump has been the worst president this country has ever had. And I don't say that hyperbolically. He is. But he is a consequential president. And he has brought this country in three short years to a place of weakness that is simply unimaginable if you were pondering where we are today from the day where Barack Obama left office. And there were a lot of us on that day who were deeply skeptical and very worried about what a Trump presidency would be. But this is a moment of unparalleled national humiliation, of weakness."

"When you listen to the President, these are the musings of an imbecile. An idiot. And I don't use those words to name call. I use them because they are the precise words of the English language to describe his behavior. His comportment. His actions. We've never seen a level of incompetence, a level of ineptitude so staggering on a daily basis by anybody in the history of the country whose ever been charged with substantial responsibilities."

"It's just astonishing that this man is president of the United States. The man, the con man, from New York City. Many bankruptcies, failed businesses, a reality show, that branded him as something that he never was. A successful businessman. Well, he's the President of the United States now, and the man who said he would make the country great again. And he's brought death, suffering, and economic collapse on truly an epic scale. And let's be clear. This isn't happening in every country around the world. This place. Our place. Our home. Our country. The United States. We are the epicenter. We are the place where you're the most likely to die from this disease. We're the ones with the most shattered economy. And we are because of the fool that sits in the Oval Office behind the Resolute Desk."

Ouch.

Friends Abroad

Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal broke the story (link here) about how Chinese nationals with close ties to China's government, including their intelligence services, have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Donald Trump's reelection campaign and to the Republican Party itself.

Any donations made by individuals who were not also American citizens or permanent residents would be illegal.

Per the Journal article: "Soon after ... Trump took office, people with ties to the Chinese state poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into his re-election bid to get close to and potentially influence the new president."

"The effort had early success in gaining access for those involved, helping them meet the president or top Republicans at fundraisers or at an internal GOP leadership meeting. It reveals how China seeks to build inroads into U.S. politics, gather information on U.S. leaders and if possible affect policy-making."

"Several of those involved worked closely with China’s national-security apparatus, including organizations linked to its military, and briefed prominent Chinese political figures about their efforts."

Remember how Trump promised to "drain the swamp"? How is sucking up to proxies for foreign intelligence agencies draining anything? It reeks of opportunistic corruption and pay-to-play politics.

Such claims are doubly absurd in light of the many revelations in John Bolton's book about how Trump begged the Chinese President on more than one occasion to help him with his reelection efforts.

Trump is now trying to paint himself in his reelection campaign as strong on standing up to China. In reality, he's been wriggling around on his back like a trained dog trying to please his Bejing master. As usual, he's both a shameless liar and a hypocrite.

Muscle Meets Muscle

MThis is a great pairing between two pros who clearly enjoy fucking more than they enjoy getting paid for it. Miles is somewhat older than Michael but not enough for a "dad" scenario. In reality, older/younger male couples seem to be quite common, at least out here in Southern California.

Sounds of Silence

Former United States Attorney Preet Bharara wrote an excellent opinion piece on Sunday (link here) about the ugly and messy process of Donald Trump's attorney general in firing Geoffrey S. Berman, until this weekend the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York (S.D.N.Y.), arguably the federal government's most important prosecutor.

Bharara boils down the probable reason behind the firing: "The only sin ascribable to S.D.N.Y. under Mr. Berman’s leadership, it seems, is violation of the commandment to protect the President’s friends and pursue his rivals.... Nothing about the weekend termination was regular or in good faith. It smacks of an effort to get rid of someone perceived to be disloyal in favor of someone more controllable."

In other words, Berman refused to be corrupted by Trump and his attorney general and for that he was fired.

It would be outside the scope of Bharara's piece to speculate what's really going on with this firing. At the end of the day, however, it probably failed miserably. Berman will be replaced by his deputy, who almost certainly will continue to press forward with any investigation and prosecution that has any connection to Trump.

So the debacle was a messy and failed political assassination. Hopefully the whole story will become public at some point soon. We deserve to know exactly how corrupt Trump is and what he attempted to do in this latest of his nearly innumerable scandals.

Flopped

In recent weeks, Donald Trump heavily hyped the return of his rally spectacles. The first was scheduled for this past weekend in Oklahoma.

The breathy hubris about the promised event was intense. Between eight hundred thousand and a million people were expected to show, according to the President. The event would be so large, he promised, that he and his surrogates would have to make appearances at a huge satellite overflow rally outside the main event. Oklahoma, after all, was deep red Trump campaign country and a world record turnout was promised.

In reality, the event on Saturday turned out to be a colossal flop (details here and here). Rather than a million people, only a little over six thousand showed. The arena was 70 percent empty. The promised overflow rally was scrapped.

And Trump was furious at the abysmal turnout (details here and here). He blamed everyone except, of course, himself.

Yet he was the sole reason people failed to show. They don't believe his bullshit about the coronavirus crisis being over. And his badly sagging poll numbers show that his base has radically shrunk.

Good. Let him stew in his own misery.

* * *

And an update about the showdown between the Trump administration and the chief federal prosecutor in Manhattan who was refusing to leave his post even after the White House insisted he had been fired. Sadly, the prosecutor relented and has now left his position (details here).

Nonetheless, per the linked article, by holding out, the prosecutor was able to force the Justice Department to name his deputy to fill his slot and not the White House's hand-picked replacement. "The move was viewed as a win for SDNY, where prosecutors had become uneasy over the prospect of a new leader viewed as loyal to [the administration]," the piece notes.

The departing prosecutor was invited to appear before the House Judiciary Committee this week. Hopefully he will be able to attend and shed much more light on this matter.
