Dangerous

I wrote a few days ago about how Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi postponed indefinitely Donald Trump's appearance before a joint session of Congress to deliver a state of the union address.

Later in the week, Trump retaliated by withdrawing from availability military aircraft that Pelosi and other members of Congress were due to use on a planned visit to US personnel in Afghanistan. He then directed the White House to publicize that move, thereby endangering backup plans that Pelosi and others had made for commercial flights (details here).

"You never give advance notice of going into a battle area — you just never do it," Pelosi said to the media about what Trump had done. "Perhaps the President’s inexperience didn’t have him understand that protocol. The people around him, though, should have known that, because that’s very dangerous."

Here's the bottom line -- the President of the United States endangered members of Congress in order to score political points.

Yes, some might say Pelosi's original move was designed to score political points. But she never put anyone's safety at risk.

Trump, on the other hand, did put others' lives at risk. That is inexcusable.
