The Spy

While the world was distracted earlier this week with the aftermath of Donald Trump's appeasement summit in Finland, American federal law enforcement agents made an important arrest on Tuesday of a Russian spy (details here) who had been helping the National Rifle Association (NRA), the Republican Party, and Trump's campaign itself.

The woman, Maria Butina, attempted in 2016 to set up a secret meeting during the campaign season between Trump and Vladimir Putin (details here).

She also directly helped Trump's campaign by steering donations through the NRA to benefit and support the Trump campaign (details here).

Trump himself even took a question from the spy at the 2015 ultra-conservative FreedomFest (video here).

Once again with this arrest we see a confluence of Trump and Russian operatives. We also see a confluence between the NRA and Trump. Further, given that Butina also assisted far right evangelical conservative organizations, we see a confluence of Trump and anti-LGBT activities.

Trump keeps claiming there was no Russian collusion with his campaign but the reality is that he was up to his neck in it. His campaign and administration are rotten to the core with corruption and collusion.
