Overripe

Once again I have a book recommendation to share -- this time it's Impeachment: An American History, by Peter Baker, Jeffrey Engel, Jon Meacham, and Timothy Naftali. It's a fairly short book but a fascinating read nonetheless.

As always, I recommend borrowing it rather than buying. Check it out at your local library or your favorite torrent or file-sharing site.

With impeachment talk in the air, the four authors examine from history when that's appropriate and when it's not. For historical context, they focus on the two presidential impeachments that occurred and the one that almost did under Richard Nixon.

The book subtly and deftly lays out a premise: impeachment should only be evoked when a President endangers the country and/or a President puts self interests before national interests. On both of these points, Donald Trump is overripe for impeachment.
