The $50 Million Bribe

Details continue to surface from Thursday's surprising second guilty plea by Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's lawyer and fixer. One surfaced on Friday that was a whopper: Trump's people floated giving a $50 million penthouse condo to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in exchange for his approval and help in making Trump Tower Moscow happen (details here).

Legal experts immediately began to question whether such an offer violated America's Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. That law prevents offering incentives of value to foreign officials in exchange for business assistance.

Trump's employees who worked on the deal could be prosecuted simply for making the offer. And if Trump himself knew about it and did not try to stop it, he too could face criminal prosecution.

This is certainly a developing story and warrants watching for future developments. Stay tuned.
