Break the Law

CNN tucked some important revelations yesterday in a piece (link here) about Donald Trump's increasingly draconian and chaotic Department of Homeland Security. Add to that is the fact that Trump is advising immigration personnel to break the law.

From the CNN story:

"Behind the scenes, two sources told CNN, [Trump] told border agents to not let migrants in. Tell them we don’t have the capacity, he said. If judges give you trouble, say, 'Sorry, judge, I can’t do it. We don’t have the room.'"

"After the President left the room, agents sought further advice from their leaders, who told them they were not giving them that direction and if they did what the President said they would take on personal liability. You have to follow the law, they were told."

He's essentially advising them to commit several criminal acts here: violate a judge's order and then lie to the judge about that.

If Republicans in the Senate had any balls, they would be outraged about this. What he's doing here is an impeachable offense. And arguably it opens Trump up to criminal liability once he leaves office.

But the GOP will do nothing and just look the other way. Yet another day in the criminal enterprise known as the Trump Administration.
