Darling Dictators

The Washington Post published an interesting analysis piece yesterday (link here) the many times Donald Trump spoke admiringly about brutal dictators while condoning or dismissing the many murders they ordered.

The most recent known incident of this occurred when Trump shrugged off Putin's attempt-by-proxy to murder a former Russian spy living in British exile.

"Last March, top national security officials gathered inside the White House to discuss with Trump how to respond to the nerve agent attack in Britain on Sergei Skripal, the former Russian intelligence agent," the author writes, quoting a recent New York Times article. "London was pushing for the White House to expel dozens of suspected Russian operatives, but Trump was skeptical. He had initially written off the poisoning as part of legitimate spy games, distasteful but within the bounds of espionage. Some officials said they thought that Trump, who has frequently criticized 'rats' and other turncoats, had some sympathy for the Russian government’s going after someone viewed as a traitor."

I never cease to be amazed at how much Trump embraces un-American behavior while concurrently disdaining Americans and their loyal allies. It takes a severely mentally disordered individual to admire a cruel dictator while speaking contemptuously of genuine American heroes like John McCain.

Republicans, you own this by embracing Trump with both arms and putting party before country.
