Two Senate races in Georgia, however, have one more round of elections. State law there requires a winner to receive an absolute majority of 50 percent plus one. (Georgia has two open Senate seats this year because one is a special election to fill a vacancy caused by resignation.)
The final election for both seats will be held on January 5, 2021. If Democrats take both seats — and there's certainly a good chance that can happen, given President-elect Joe Biden appears to have won Georgia — then Democrats will take the Senate majority.
So this is a critically important election, even for those of us who don't live in Georgia.
If you can, donate to one or both Democrats running in the two races: Raphael Warnock (donation link here) and Jon Ossoff (donation link here).
If you'd like to volunteer, regardless of whether or not you live in Georgia, you can do so at the Fair Fight website (link here). Those of us outside Geogia can volunteer to phonebank and textbank to get out the vote.
If you live in Georgia, make sure you are registered to vote. You can also request your absentee ballot right now. Click here for more details.
