Signs and Signals

Is there anyone left in the United States who still believes Donald Trump's promise that he'd be a great President for LGBT people and much better than his 2016 general election opponent? In case you're wondering if he really said that, he did, in a Twitter post: "Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs" (link here).

If you or anyone you know is still clinging to this belief, a comment made earlier by Trump's press secretary should clear things up. She said in a press conference that the President would have no problem with businesses hanging antigay signs that explicitly state they don't serve LGBT customers (details here).

She said he "supports religious liberty," which obviously includes open discrimination. Remind me again what part of the Bible mandates people should do that?

Funny how Trump is all in favor of Christian religious liberty but not for other beliefs. He's repeatedly denigrated non-Christian religions, both as a candidate and as President.

The bottom line is plain now: Trump is not the best President for LGBT as he promised to be. He is the worst in history. His administration has gone out of its way to promote LGBT discrimination and to reduce LGBT people to second-class status or worse.
