Today May Be Critical

Michael Cohen, the former attorney and fixer for Donald Trump, is scheduled to testify today before the House Oversight Committee. His testimony is expected to begin sometime later this morning and will be carried live by all major cable news channels.

In his appearance, he will "publicly accuse the President of engaging -- while in office -- in criminal conduct related to a hush-money payment to a porn star," according to a story the Wall Street Journal broke yesterday (link here).

Further, "Cohen also plans to make public some of Trump’s private financial statements and allege that Trump at times inflated or deflated his net worth for business and personal purposes, including avoiding paying property taxes."

And "Cohen is expected to recount racist remarks Trump allegedly made to him, including instances in which Trump allegedly questioned the intelligence of African-Americans and criticized their lifestyle choices."

Wow. Today has the potential to be a game changer in the fate of the Trump administration. It may be the most damaging day yet for Trump. And, given that Trump will be abroad, he will have little ability to shape the news cycle.

Stay tuned.
